Back in 2003, Sean Pincus (A/V junkie) started to feel increasingly frustrated watching artists fork-over their hard-earned money to commercial studios whom had inefficient and damaging approaches to creative, artistic innovation, especially when it came to producing and recording records.

Rather than just accepting the situation for what it was, Sean decided to do something about it.

After several months of devising a plan to resolve the dilemma, Sean had taken the leap to help artists from around the globe feel comfortable paying for at-cost studio production/recording in an environment that embraces and cultivates creative development. Over a few months the start-up fund, of just $15,000 was scraped together.

The business officially opened its doors as a project studio on January 19, 2003 in a rather dingy basement in Jamison, PA. Sean knew that he must expand the business and develop a name that took ownership for the quality products it was producing.

After kicking around several unimaginative ideas it finally dawned on Sean, what the name should be. The idea spawned from when he was growing up, friends called him “SPINCUS” by combining the first letter of his first name and his full last name. It grew on him over time and he felt that it was fitting for his new business endeavor. With the same mission in mind, to overcome commercial inadequacy, they opened their new location in Doylestown, PA.

In the subsequent years, the business has stuck to its mantra of retaining the original entrepreneurial, collaborative and creative ethos.

The result has been what Sean had always envisioned. He spends his days (and many sleepless nights) working with great people doing what he is most passionate about. He gets to be a part of their success as they are a part of his.
